While DFI will customize a license for your specific marketing and operational needs,
there are two basic types of licenses:
OEM Licenses - Designed mainly for large distributors or manufacturers
of glass, tile, porcelain or granite products. This license will grant the rights
to apply DFI’s patented technology on licensee’s own products only.
High volume operations with a minimum monthly royalty (volumen - related) based on
the following basic options: fixed cost per square foot (or square meter), ‘flat’
cost per unit, or percentage of sales (on treated product).
In-Situ Licenses - Designed for service-oriented businesses with the
ability to work on all existing glass surfaces and other silica-based products in
addition to licensee’s own in-house business. The In-situ
(‘in the field’) business has less overall efficiency than
an OEM- type application due to the method of operation (portable field-machine),
which may be converted for combined use with a fixed site chamber (see
chamber designs). Royalty plans are similar to an OEM license although in
a different scale.
